Summary

Selecting the correct load type and design method ensures that PROFIS Engineering applies the appropriate assumptions for load behaviour, design checks, and calculation models. These settings directly influence how loads are interpreted and how anchor forces, failure modes, and design capacities are evaluated.

Prerequisites

Make sure you are logged in to your PROFIS Engineering account and have opened the Anchoring to Concrete module. If you need help accessing the module, click here for step‑by‑step instructions.

You have entered all required design inputs.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Go to Loads
In your Anchoring to Concrete design workspace, go to the Loads on the left-hand side of the screen.

  2. Select the Baseplate design approach
Under Advanced calculation type, choose your preferred design approach from the dropdown menu.

  3. Select the Load type
Go to Load type and select the desired option.
The Static load option is enabled by default.
Choose between Design loads and Characteristic loads.
Select Design working life from dropdown menu.

When seismic, fatigue or fire options are selected, additional information need to be provided.

  4. Define Seismic (if applicable)
Go to Load type and select the seismic design option.

PROFIS will default with a seismic design type that may differ depending on your country. You can choose among the avaiable options. In the pop-up window, click OK.

In the next pop-up window, enter the loads and click Save.

Select the suitable seismic design category and Seismic design type.

  5. Define Fatigue (if applicable)
Go to Load type and select the Fatigue design option.
Enter the Number of load cycles.

  6. Define Fire (if applicable)
Go to Load type and select Fire option.
Select the Fire resistance duration from the dropdown menu.
    Define the Fire exposure.

  7. Select the design method
Go to the  Design method selection and select the desired option from the dropdown menu.
Enable the guideline only option to restrict design according to ETAG or EN guidelines only.
Select the stand-off design method from dropdown menu.
