How to select load type and design method in Post-installed rebar module

Choosing the correct load type and design method ensures that PROFIS Engineering uses the right assumptions for load behaviour, design checks, and calculation models.


Prerequisites

Make sure you are logged in to your PROFIS Engineering account and have opened the Post-installed rebar module. If you need help accessing the module, click here for step‑by‑step instructions.

You have entered all required design inputs.


Step-by-step instructions

  1. Go to Loads / calculation type tab
    In your Post-installed rebar design workspace, go to the Loads / calculation type tab on the left-hand side of the screen.

  2. Select the Load type
    Under Load type, choose the type of load you want to apply.
    • Static design option is enabled by default.
    • Choose the appropriate design working life from the dropdown menu.

    • If you select fire design, choose either 
      • fire duration class, or 
      • fire temperature in the rebar, then enter the relevant details.

  3. Enter the load definition 
    Go to Loads and select either per section or per bar depending on how you want to consider the load.
    When per bar is selected, design for yield option is enabled and you can choose desired option from the dropdown menu. 

    When per section is selected, shear design options is enabled and you can choose appropriate options. 

  4. Select the design method
    Go to the Design and select the design method. 

  5. Define minimum and maximum reinforcement
    In Consideration of min and max reinforcement, enable the appropriate options. 
    To modify reinforcement limits, click on the highlighted button.

    In the pop‑up window, navigate to Rebar calculation parameters, adjust the values, and click Save.
