Summary
Selecting the correct load type ensures that PROFIS Engineering applies the appropriate assumptions for load behaviour, design checks, and calculation models. These settings directly influence how loads are interpreted and how anchor forces, failure modes, and design capacities are evaluated.
Prerequisites
Make sure you:
- Are logged in to your PROFIS Engineering account
- Have opened the Anchoring to Masonry module
- Have entered all required design inputs
If needed, refer to the article How to access the Anchoring to Masonry module in PROFIS Engineering.
Step-by-step instructions
-
Go to Loads / Calculation Type
In your Anchoring to Masonry design workspace, go to the Loads / Calculation type on the left-hand side of the screen. -
Select the Load type
Under Load type, select one of the following:- Static load
-
Seismic load
The Static load option is enabled by default.Choose to enter loads as Design loads or Characteristic loads.
Note: When Characteristic loads is selected, enter the values for dead and live loads. PROFIS Engineering will multiply it with partial safety factors defined in the project.
-
Define Seismic load type (if applicable)
Go to Load type and select the seismic load option.
Default seismic design type is displayed.Read the warning message and click OK.
In next pop-up window, enter the factored loads and click Save.
Modify DLS tension and DLS shear as needed.
Enable Seismic load contribution <=20% (optional)
Note: When this option is enabled, the design option and corresponding design criteria do not apply. -
Input compressive stress on the wall
Under Loading, enter the value of compressive stress on the wall.
Tip
If you switch to seismic loading, always verify your load inputs.
The appropriate calculation method is automatically selected by PROFIS.
