Summary
Defining the concrete reinforcement allows PROFIS Engineering to account for the presence and density of reinforcement in the concrete member when evaluating fastening performance.
Prerequisites
Make sure you:
- Are logged in to your PROFIS Engineering account
- Have opened the Anchor channel module
- Have selected the Application type and Fastening technology
If needed, refer to the article How to access the Anchor channel module in PROFIS Engineering.
Step‑by‑step instructions
-
Open the Concrete reinforcement section
In the Anchor channel design workspace, navigate to Concrete reinforcement tab → Concrete reinforcement section in the left‑hand navigation panel. -
Define reinforcement density in the concrete member
Under Concrete, select the reinforcement density from the dropdown menu:- None – No relevant reinforcement present
- Wide – Widely spaced reinforcement
- Dense – Closely spaced reinforcement
This selection represents the overall reinforcement density in the concrete member and affects crack control assumptions and concrete behaviour around the anchor.
-
Define edge reinforcement
Under Edge, choose the option that best matches the reinforcement condition near the concrete edge:- None – Select if there is no edge‑parallel reinforcement influencing concrete breakout behaviour.
- Straight – Select if straight reinforcement bars are present near the edge without additional confinement.
- Straight and closely spaced stirrups – Select if straight bars are present together with closely spaced stirrups providing enhanced confinement near the edge.
This selection influences how PROFIS Engineering evaluates edge‑related concrete failure modes and the contribution of reinforcement to load transfer.
-
Specify crack‑control reinforcement
Enable Reinforcement to control the cracking present if the concrete member includes reinforcement specifically intended to limit cracking under service loads.
