Summary

Choosing the right product in the Anchor channel module lets PROFIS Engineering apply the correct geometry, approvals, embedment, and load-resistance models. Product inputs and layout options adjust automatically based on the selected fastening technology. Products can be chosen from the input panel or directly in the 3D editor for flexible, intuitive anchoring system setup.

Prerequisites

Make sure you:

  • Are logged in to your PROFIS Engineering account
  • Have opened the Anchor channel module
  • Have selected the Application type and Fastening technology

If needed, refer to the article How to access the Anchor channel module in PROFIS Engineering.

Step‑by‑step instructions

  1. Select the fastening technology
Before selecting a product, open the Application tab and choose the fastening technology:

    • Cast‑in anchor channels
    • Post‑installed anchors
    • Cast‑in anchors

Note: The available product families, input fields, and layout options change automatically based on the fastening technology selected. Changing this option may reset previously entered product inputs.

  2. Open the Product section
Navigate to the Product tab in the left‑hand panel.
This section displays product‑related inputs that depend on the selected fastening technology.

  3. Select the Product Family
Under Family, select the appropriate product family:

    1. For cast‑in anchor channels
    2. For post‑installed anchors
    3. For cast‑in anchors or embed plates

Click the arrow icon to browse available families.

Alternative method: Select product via 3D editor
You can also select the product family directly from the 3D editor by clicking the Product selector panel on the right‑hand side of the screen.
This opens the same family and type selection options and updates the left‑hand inputs automatically.

  4. Select the Product Type
Use the Type dropdown to choose the specific product or channel profile.

Based on the product type, PROFIS Engineering automatically updates:

    1. Available embedment depths
    2. Channel lengths (for anchor channels)
    3. Applicable approvals and design models

Click View ETA approval (or equivalent approval link) to review the product approval documentation for applicable fastening type.

Note: For cast-in anchors, additional inputs need to be entered.

  5. Define Product Dimensions
Depending on the fastening technology, define the relevant dimensions:
    For anchor channels:

    • Channel length
    • Embedment depth

For post‑installed anchors or cast‑in anchors:

    • Anchor size
    • Embedment depth (user‑defined or preset)

Use the + / – buttons or enter values manually.

  6. Define Bolt (for Anchor channels)
After selecting the product, expand the Bolt section.
    Here you can define:

    • Bolt type
    • Bolt size
    • Bolt length
  7. Define Layout Parameters
After selecting the product, expand the Layout or Bolt Layout section (name varies by fastening technology).
    For Anchor channel:

Here you can define Bolts number.

For post-installed anchors or cast-in anchors:

    Here you can define:

    • Number of anchors in x‑direction
    • Number of anchors in y‑direction

These inputs control how loads are distributed across the anchoring system.

  8. Define annular gap (optional)
Under Installation, enable filled annular gaps, if applicable.

  9. Review automatic updates
    After product selection:

    • Geometry, layout, and resistance assumptions may update
    • Some inputs may become locked or populated automatically based on product approval limits

Review the Messages panel for any prompts or warnings.

Tip

Always select the fastening technology first and then choose the product. Changing the fastening technology after defining products can reset inputs. For faster workflow and better visualisation, use the 3D editor product selector to switch between product families and instantly review geometry changes.
