Summary
Selecting the correct load type and design method ensures that PROFIS Engineering applies the appropriate assumptions for load behavior, design checks, and calculation models. These settings directly influence how loads are interpreted and how anchor forces, failure modes, and design capacities are evaluated.
Prerequisites
Make sure you:
- Are logged in to your PROFIS Engineering account
- Have opened the Anchoring to Masonry module
- Have entered all required design inputs.
If needed, refer to the article How to access the Anchoring to Masonry module in PROFIS Engineering.
Step-by-step instructions
-
Go to Loads / Calculation Type
In your Anchoring to Masonry design workspace, go to the Loads / Calculation type on the left-hand side of the screen. -
Select the Load type
Under Load type, select one of the following:- Static load
-
Seismic load.
The Static load option is enabled by default.
-
Define Seismic load type (if applicable)
Go to Load type and select the seismic load option.
Default seismic tension type and seismic shear type is displayed.Read the warning message and click OK.
In next pop-up window, click Yes to re-input factored loads.
Enter the factored loads and click Save.
-
Select the design method
Go to Design and select the desired option from the dropdown menu.
Tip
If you switch to seismic loading, always verify your load inputs.
