Summary

In general, modifying the baseplate thickness allows PROFIS Engineering to accurately evaluate the stiffness, bending behaviour, stress distribution on the baseplate and correct anchor item number selection (length to accomodate the fixture thickness). The selected thickness directly influences anchor forces, plate deformation, and the overall performance of the connection, making it an essential input for realistic and code‑aligned design results.

Prerequisites

Make sure you are logged in to your PROFIS Engineering account and have opened the Anchoring to Concrete module. If you need help accessing the module, click here for step‑by‑step instructions.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open the Baseplate tab
In your Anchoring to Concrete design workspace, navigate to the Baseplate tab on the left-hand side of the screen.
  1. Go to Baseplate thickness
Here you can type in the thickness value or use the “+ / –” controls to increase or decrease it.

Tip

The influence of baseplate thickness may differ depending on the chosen design method. It is minimal in the case of rigid design (i.e., anchor item selection) but is significantly considered in advanced CBFEM methods, as it affects the connection stiffness, thereby impacting load distribution and the design of various connection components.
