Summary
Defining the correct concrete base material ensures that PROFIS Engineering applies the appropriate strength class, cracking condition, and material properties required for accurate facade design.
Prerequisites
Make sure you:
- Are logged in to your PROFIS Engineering account
- Have opened the Facade module
- Have selected the Application type and Fastening technology
If needed, refer to the article How to access the Facade module in PROFIS Engineering.
Step-by-step instructions
-
Open the Concrete material tab
In your Facade design workspace, navigate to the Concrete material tab on the left-hand side of the screen.
-
Select concrete type and grade
Under Base material, choose the Concrete grade from the dropdown menu.
Concrete type and grade may differ depending on the country or region selected. -
Define cracking condition
The Cracked concrete option is enabled by default.
Disable this option only if it can be established that no cracking will occur at service load levels.
Use the information (i) icon next to the setting to review additional guidance on cracked concrete assumptions. -
Enable Lightweight concrete (if applicable)
Enable Lightweight concrete if the structure uses lightweight concrete.
When selected, PROFIS Engineering applies the relevant reduction factors automatically.
Tip
To be on the safe side, choose Cracked concrete. Many concrete members experience cracking during their service life, and selecting this option provides a more realistic basis for your design. Use the information (i) icon to understand how cracking assumptions affect the results.
