Summary

Defining the transverse reinforcement in the existing concrete member enables PROFS Engineering to reduce lap lenght due to the positive effect.

Prerequisites

Make sure you are logged in to your PROFIS Engineering account and have opened the Concrete to Concrete module. If you need help accessing the module, click here for step‑by‑step instructions.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open the Existing reinforcement tab
In your Concrete to Concrete design workspace, navigate to the Existing reinforcement tab on the left-hand side of the screen.

  2. Define transverse reinforcement
Under Transverse reinforcement, enter the value for Transverse reinforcement index (Ktr) based on your project requirements.

  3. Add detailed transverse reinforcement information (Optional)
Enable Detailed definition of transverse reinforcement if you want to provide more specific reinforcement inputs.
Enter values of Total cross sectional area, Spacing and Number of bars.

Note: For the Shear Doweling application, the transverse reinforcement input is found under Concrete member tab. It appears when shear doweling application is selected.
