Summary
Defining anchor reinforcement allows PROFIS Engineering to consider additional reinforcement arranged around the anchor channel to improve load transfer and control concrete failure modes. When enabled and defined correctly, anchor reinforcement can enhance resistance under tension and shear and ensure the design reflects the actual reinforcement detailing of the concrete member.
Prerequisites
Make sure you:
- Are logged in to your PROFIS Engineering account
- Have opened the Anchor channel module
- Have selected the Application type and Fastening technology
If needed, refer to the article How to access the Anchor channel module in PROFIS Engineering.
Step‑by‑step instructions
-
Open the Anchor reinforcement section
In the Anchor channel design workspace, navigate to Concrete reinforcement tab → Anchor reinforcement section in the left‑hand navigation panel. -
Enable anchor reinforcement
By default, anchor reinforcement is disabled.
Activate the Anchor reinforcement checkbox. It is available only if the fastening technology selected is Cast-in anchor channels.
Once enabled, a pop‑up window titled Anchor reinforcement opens automatically, allowing you to define reinforcement details. -
Define material properties of the anchor reinforcement
At the top of the pop‑up window, enter the Characteristic yield strength of reinforcement. -
Select the applicable reinforcement contribution
Choose one or more reinforcement contributions based on how reinforcement is arranged relative to the anchor channel:-
Anchor reinforcement for tension loads (z‑direction)
Use this option when reinforcement is installed to carry anchor tension forces. -
Anchor reinforcement for perpendicular shear loads (y‑direction)
Select this when reinforcement crosses the potential shear failure plane. -
Anchor reinforcement for longitudinal shear loads (x‑direction)
Use this option if reinforcement contributes to shear resistance along the channel length.
Each option activates a corresponding input panel with geometry illustrations to help you verify the reinforcement arrangement.
-
Anchor reinforcement for tension loads (z‑direction)
-
Define reinforcement geometry and detailing
For each selected reinforcement contribution, specify:- Reinforcement diameter
- Concrete cover
These inputs define the anchorage behavior and effectiveness of the anchor reinforcement.
Use the schematic drawings shown in the dialog to confirm bar orientation and spacing assumptions. -
Save the anchor reinforcement definition
Click Save to apply the anchor reinforcement settings to your design.
PROFIS Engineering will immediately update the calculation assumptions and use the defined reinforcement in relevant design checks.
Tip
Use the built‑in diagrams and the information (i) icons to ensure your reinforcement selection correctly represents the actual detailing around the anchor channel.
