Summary

In general, defining the attachment profile allows PROFIS Engineering to correctly model the geometry and structural characteristics of the connected member. Selecting the appropriate profile type ensures accurate determination of load transfer, stiffness and overall connection behavior within your design.

Prerequisites

Make sure you are logged in to your PROFIS Engineering account and have opened the Anchoring to Concrete module. If you need help accessing the module, click here for step‑by‑step instructions.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open the Profiles tab
In your Anchoring to Concrete design workspace, navigate to the Profiles tab on the left-hand side of the screen.
  1. Go to the Profiles section
Check the Use profile option if you need an attachment. Select the desired attachment profile from available options.

  2. Select the Profile Size
Select the desired profile Size from the available options.
  1. Define a Custom Profile (Optional)
If needed, choose Custom to define your own profile dimensions.

Tip

The influence of the attachment profile may differ depending on the chosen design method. It is minimal in the case of rigid design (i.e., anchors clashing or too close to profile) but is significantly considered in advanced CBFEM methods, as it affects the connection stiffness, thereby impacting load distribution and the design of various connection components.
