Summary

Defining the correct brick base material ensures that PROFIS Engineering applies the appropriate material properties needed for accurate anchor design.

Prerequisites

Make sure you:

  • Are logged in to your PROFIS Engineering account
  • Have opened the Anchoring to Masonry module

If needed, refer to the article How to access the Anchoring to Masonry module in PROFIS Engineering.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open the Base material tab
In your Anchoring to Masonry design workspace, navigate to the Base material tab on the left-hand side of the screen.

  2. Select brick type and size
    Click on Brick.
Choose the appropriate Brick type in the pop-up window.

Choose the appropriate Brick size from the dropdown menu.

  3. Define brick strength and cracking condition
Select brick strength from dropdown list.
Enable Cracked masonry elements option, if applicable.

  4. Input brick layout
Under Layout, select brick layout pattern and staring point.

Tip

Choose brick type, brick size, and strength that realistically match the actual wall; avoid “optimistic” assumptions. A stronger base material may shift the governing mode.
