Summary

Defining the correct base material temperature ensures that PROFIS Engineering applies the appropriate short term and long term temperature conditions, allowing for accurate performance calculations.

Prerequisites

Make sure you:

  • Are logged in to your PROFIS Engineering account
  • Have opened the Shear strengthening module

If needed, refer to the article How to access the Shear strengthening module in PROFIS Engineering.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open the Base material tab
In your Shear strengthening design workspace, open the Base material tab on the left-hand side of the screen.

  2. Define Temperature
Navigate to Temperature. Here you can type in the temperature values or use the “+ / –” controls to increase or decrease them.

    Note

    • Short term temperature represents the highest temperature the concrete may experience for brief periods.
    • Long term temperature represents the typical, sustained temperature condition of the concrete over time, such as seasonal averages or consistently heated/cooled environments.

Tip

Define both temperature ranges carefully. These are service temperatures, not the concrete temperature at installation. This ensures your design reflects expected service-life conditions accurately by using corresponding bond strength values in the design.
