Summary
Selecting the number of strengthening zones allows PROFIS Engineering to divide the concrete member into separate regions where post‑installed strengthening elements can be defined independently. This ensures that spacing, installation direction, and layout can be tailored to the actual shear demand distribution along the member.
Note: This input section is not available when Generic shear-friction interface application is selected.
Prerequisites
Make sure you:
- Are logged in to your PROFIS Engineering account
- Have opened the Concrete overlay module
If needed, refer to the article How to access the Concrete overlay module in PROFIS Engineering.
Step-by-step instructions
-
Open the Concrete member tab
In your Concrete overlay design workspace, navigate to the Concrete member tab on the left-hand side of the screen. -
Enter Number of zones
Expand Zones.
Here you can select the Number of zones from the dropdown list. -
Select symmetric layout (optional)
Symmetric option is enabled by default.
-
Consider whether or not to consider edge area (optional)
Considering edge area option is enabled by default.
Upon disabling this option, a warning message is displayed.
Read the message and click OK.
Tip
Choose the number of zones based on the structural layout and varying shear demand along the element. For example, use multiple zones when support regions and spans require different strengthening configurations.
