How to define and modify installation conditions in Concrete-over-metal-deck module

Summary

Defining the installation conditions ensures that PROFIS Engineering applies the correct drilling method, cleaning procedure, and torquing approach (manual or adaptive), so that anchor performance reflects realistic installation practices used on site. These three inputs tell the software how the hole is made, what condition it’s in, and how it’s cleaned, so it can use the correct capacities from approvals and test data.


Prerequisites

Make sure you:

  • Are logged in to your PROFIS Engineering account
  • Have opened the Concrete-over-metal-deck module

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open the Base material tab
    In your Concrete-over-metal-deck design workspace, navigate to the Base material tab on the left-hand side of the screen.

  2. Open the Installation conditions section
    Expand the Installation conditions section to view the available inputs.

  3. Select Drilling and cleaning type
    Choose the appropriate Drilling and cleaning type from the dropdown menu. 

    Note: For selected bonded anchors, the Hole condition must also be specified:

    1. Hole condition 1: No dust removal is required for a hammer drilled hole. 
    2. Hole condition 2: All dust must be removed from a hammer drilled hole before installing anchor.

    Note: Drilling type refers to the method used to create the hole in the concrete. This influences the surface roughness and geometry of the hole, which in turn affects the bond and anchor performance, thereby impacting the design strength. Cleaning type specifies the procedure for removing dust and slurry from the hole prior to anchor installation. Improved cleaning typically results in enhanced performance.

  4. Check the Torquing option
    Select the applicable Torquing option for your installation.
